I invite you to meet Victor and James closely, reading this very inspirational interview:
A) How do you define your name ´´Atelier Design“?
Based in the heart of Belfast City Centre, Atelier Design is an exclusive Interior Design Studio and Home Store. We are a dynamic team of designers specialized in Interior Design, Architecture, Mid Century & Contemporary furniture & Lighting. Our Showroom houses an elegant and exclusive range of the finest contemporary European and American furniture, lighting and home-wares available, along side our bespoke luxury rug design, curtain making, upholstery and cabinetry services. As the name ‘Atelier’ suggests, we work closely with our clients to produce bespoke and crafted Interiors which are highly personal and memorable.
B) Tell us a bit about your store Atelier Design concept? How did the project start?
‘Atelier’ was established 3 Years ago, following the completion of my University Degree in 3D Design (Interior Design, product & Furniture) when I joined forces with my business partner, Architect James Fairley. We combined our passion for Interior Design, architecture and Mid Century Furniture and our concept for the studio has been to create distinct, modern & bespoke interiors for both private residential and commercial clients. Each of our design proposals is as unique as our clients, be that for a Retail Space, Bar/Restaurant, City Centre Apartment, Period Country House or Contemporary Family Home. Each project is defined by our meticulous attention to detail. Our use of exclusive fabrics, wall coverings, furniture, lighting and the singularity and uniqueness which goes hand-in-hand with individual projects
C) We would like to here from you, how do you define ´´luxury´´? Can you tell me about one luxury project do you most love.
Luxury is synonymous of comfort, elegance and glamour. One of our much loved projects and one which is very close to our hearts is our very own charming Home Store which we have recently refurbished. Our Home Store is an elegant Georgian Town House in the heart of Belfast City Centre and when the opportunity arose to take over the entire building we jumped at the chance. We have spent the last few months designing and refurbishing the space, working exhaustively to create a beautifully curated collection of high end furniture and design brands, many of which are not available anywhere else in Ireland. When visiting our Home Store you can expect deep, opulent colours, vibrant and luxurious fabrics and finishes, layered with unique patterns and prints alongside pops of uncommon colour and high end materials such as hand spun brass, marble, velvets and smoked glass.
D) What is your philosophy on design and Interior Design?
Following the current new romantic design movement we incorporate decadence and luxury, pairing fanciful with tradition. Our company believes in timeless and elegant design. We pride ourselves on our signature style UrbanLUXE look. Our work is modern and streamlined, edgy and luxurious without sacrificing adventure and with just the slightest nod to nostalgia. Its a unique look, that is at once contemporary and edgy, welcoming and nostalgic. It’s the new luxury!
E) Which materials do you love the most?
We love noble, sumptuous and timeless materials such as brass, marble and velvets which we always reference in our Interior projects.
F) Do you have any exclusive pieces? Which other brands do you work with?
We work with and stock exciting international brands such as Delightful, Christopher Guy, Jonathan Adler, Munna, Eichholtz, Jean Paul Gaultier and Christian Lacroix amongst other Luxury brands. Our store is also the first in Ireland to stock the beautiful range of Designers Guild Furniture and we are also brand ambassadors for Christian Lacroix home furnishings.
G) Which piece is the most wanted in Ireland?
The Botti Chandelier by Delightfull is the most coveted piece we have in the studio. It is an extravagant statement piece that takes clients breath away! Its also one of our favourite studio pieces too!
H) Is there anything exciting that you are working on at the moment that you can tell us about?
We are working on a number of large residential projects at the moment for private clients and also on a beautiful new retail space for award winning Irish Milliner Grainne Maher. The project is Grainne’s first retail space in Ireland and we were very honoured to be approached by Grainne to work with her on the project as she is a designer we admire greatly.
I) How do you pick the store´s collection? Which major events do you attend to find the latest designs?
We attend as many of the large trade shows as we can but with a busy diary it’s always difficult to be able to get a few days off to make the trips over to Paris, Milan and London. For the studio we began to source our Store Collections in Portugal where I am from, bringing over a sumptuous and inspiring collection of hand made furniture and lighting.
J) What do you look for in a new design?
Individuality, novelty and attention to detail are key to us when it comes to new design.
L) What do you think about our Interior Decoration blog http://interiordecoration.eu/ ?
We LOVE it and we are very honoured to be featured, Thank you Delightfull!!.
