6 Ways to Make your Small Space Feel Huge – There are many upsides to apartment living, but there are just as many downsides, especially if it is a small one. When you’re living in a small space, it can be difficult to see beyond your limitations: a weird layout, awkwardly-placed architectural features, and, of course, the teeny floorplan all rank high on the list of complaints.
But, for a designer, these challenges become opportunities to put color, furniture, and creativity to work. Living in a small space is tough, so that’s why we’ve scoured tiny apartment tricks and tips even a claustrophobic would be happy with.
1- Use a glass wall divider to visually divide a room without sacrificing space or light. Glass and perspex furniture creates the illusion of more space. Use a window to visually separate the living room from the bedroom without scarificing light or space.
2- Use your open wardrobe as a bedhead. It makes your life easier when you have to pick up your clothes in the morning, and it doesn’t take much space out of the room.
3- Create a shelf if your bed is up against the wall. Instead of a nightstand, install a wall shelf at an appropriate height and place all of your things: from books to frames.
4- Stack horizontal mirrors to create a luxurious feeling of space. It solves two problems: as it doesn’t take much space, decorates without filling too much of the room, and still gives a perception that the room is bigger than it actually is.
5- Create an entryway in an otherwise under-utilized space. Install a clothing rack on a wall with decoration upon.
6- If you think you don’t have enough space to eat in the kitchen, you may pick some bar chairs and place them in the counter.
