Have A Look At Fredrikson Stallard’s Creations – Patrik Fredrikson and Ian Stallard began their collaboration in 1995 and have since become internationally recognized as leading exponents of British avant-garde design. They are well known for their ability to translate their creativity into simple yet emotionally engaging furniture and product design.
Today, Interior Decoration is going to show you some amazing creations of these powerful team, Fredrikson Stallard.
The designers’ imagination builds a post-apocalyptic, chimerical scenario which visually personifies their thoughts. They always dream of something innovative, something extraordinary, genuine, authentic, peculiar – a new reality.
They love to explore the subtlest features of texture, material, volume, light, movement, and contrast. Their pieces always seem to desire human interaction, it is what truly completes them. Often, Fredrikson Stallard’s designs are able to interact with the viewer, they are functional, not only aesthetically pleasing but also a treat to tactile sensations. The viewer is, indeed, part of the final piece, since their works are performative.
In contemporary art and design, function and technology are essential and Fredrikson Stallard recognizes it. However, for them, emotion is equally important. Thought is not more significant than a feeling, even though this post-industrial age tries to convince us of that.
“In our practice over the last twenty years, a hammer has been of equal importance to 3D computer software in the genesis and production of the work”, they confess, valuing the merging of technology with craftsmanship in the creative process.
Fredrikson Stallard love to be in between art and design with their creations, saying their work should be: “too strange to be good design and too functional to be good art”, being ultimately both.
